The nine-day-long Chinese revelry Mercedes Benz China Fashion Week showcased an array of avant-garde Spring/Summer 2014 trends from a talented mix of more than 300 new and seasoned designers from nearly 10 countries.

 

Popular fashion label White Collar featured a mixed collection of formal, casual and evening wear apparels for women. The catwalk presentation kicked off with an all-white range of office clothing adorned with soft silk, lace and floral prints.

 

The runway collection later transcended to laidback holiday appropriate outfits like roomy trousers and sundresses in green, yellow and salmon hues. The line’s eveningwear ensembles included bejewelled lace and ruffles accented floor length gowns and ball dresses.

 

Womenswear brand Liu Wei drew inspiration from the scenic beauty of Arctic region for its latest polar-inspired collection. Staged at a freezing backdrop of ice and snow, the line featured brightly coloured bra tops teamed with matching shorts and loose fit robes, as well as sheer criss-cross panelled high-neck gowns with bold thigh-baring slits. 

 

Bridalwear designer Ren Chunhua featured a dreamy range of ivory coloured dramatic wedding gowns and princess-cut dresses, replete with intricate embroidery, detailed drapes and traditional lace. 

 

In addition to established names, young designers like Yang Boxian from Suzhou University and Jianghan University’s Zhu Jian also featured their collections at the Beijing event. 

 

Inspired from Chinese culture, the fashion student Yang Boxian showcased an elegant and mysterious silk made line, designed with a balanced mixture of natural hues and shiny embellishments.

 

Zhu Jian offered an unconventional take on traditional menswear by displaying green long skirts for men and 1980s-style wrinkled over-sized jackets with Chinese collars.
