Cashmere World 2011 kicks off |

Cashmere World 2011 (CW2011) is the definitive annual event for the international cashmere industry. It covers every aspect of the industry’s supply chain. Anyone and everyone – from raw material suppliers, through textile producers, machinery manufacturers, companies providing testing and quality control – and those manufacturing finished products for the retail market.
Organised by the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Foodstuffs, Native Produce & Animal By-Products (CCFNA) and UBM, the leading global exhibition organiser, the exhibition runs for three days, from 24 - 26 October 2011 at the China National Convention Center in Beijing.
Mr. Michael Duck, Executive Vice President of UBM Asia Ltd., explained that although the industry was comparatively small the product itself, cashmere, was widely known and held in high regard as a true luxury textile. Garments made from cashmere are extremely light, yet extraordinarily warm and hard wearing.
Mr. Duck added, ‘the majority of cashmere raw material comes from northern China so having this important event in Beijing was a practical choice.’
Despite difficulties in many key markets, cashmere has held up remarkably well, underscoring that premium products tend to be less affected by short-term economic fluctuations. Ms. Perrine Ardouin, Event Director of the Fashion Team, UBM Asia Ltd. noted that CW2011 was up a healthy 15% in the scale of the fair compared to CW2010.
In addition to mainland China, there are exhibitors from Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Iran, Italy, Korea, Mongolia and Nepal.
Major Chinese exhibitors include Consinee, Erdos, Kingdeer, Pipigou, Shengxuehai, Springair, St. Edenweiss, Viction and Zhongyin.
For the first time there is an Italian pavilion which includes leading names such as Annalisa Bucci, Chianti, Galasia (Pashmere), Giovanni Cavagna, La Cashmire Fine, Le Terre Nomadiche, Maglieria D'arte Di (Fiorella Rossi) and Roberto Tirelli.
For the first time, a Sino-Italian Exchange Seminar for the Cashmere Industry. This is to strengthen and deepen the collaboration between China and Italy. This Seminar lasts for the three days of the exhibition and was initiated by the CCFNA, the Italian Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Italian Trade Commission, and UBM.
For the first time, China Commerce Association for General Merchandise (CCAGM) is bringing a group of department store buyers from cities, such as Qingdao, Shaan’xi, Shanghai, Shenyang, Shijiazhuang, Tianjin and of course, Beijing, to attend the fair.
For the first time there will be a ‘matchmaking’ service helping to put potential sellers with potential buyers. 365knits.com from Germany, Cashmere Fibre from the UK, Coach from the US, EastMax from Italy, Ram Fashion Accessories from the US, as well as department store buyers from CCAGM will be joining this activity.
For the first time a fashion parade which showcases the latest collection of Annalisa Bucci, Max Tonso, Pashmere, Viction and Zhongyin. This is going to be held on the first day of the fair.
